Responsibilities for the Compliance/Liaison Officer Job
- Develop and implement periodic compliance plans for political parties in line with the Political Parties Act.
- Participate in development of manuals, guidelines and compliance policy documents.
- Develop guidelines on the adherence to the Political Parties Code of Conduct, party nomination rules and regulations for political parties.
- Develop guidelines for political party nomination rules and regulations.
- Draft regulations to the Political Parties Act.
- Contribute in setting targets, objectives and work plans for the Compliance Department under the direction of the Assistant Director Compliance.
- Allocate duties to staff within the unit and appraise staff against agreed target.
- Provide technical expertise for political parties capacity building on compliance policies and guidelines through sensitization programs.
- Facilitate enforcement of compliance plans to political parties in line with the Political Parties Act.
- Ensure political parties maintain statutory records of their registered members, contributions, property and mode of acquisition, and statements of accounts, at their headquarters and branch offices.
- Investigate alleged violations of laws and policies by political parties in order to gather evidence as would be required as grounds for action against identified political parties.
- Prepare notices informing political parties on the particulars of their breach or contravention
- Make recommendations to the Assistant Director Compliance on sanctions to be given to political parties that breach the Political Parties Act and any guidelines.
- Conduct research and facilitate consultations with stakeholders on legal reform related to Political Parties Act.
- Interpret and implement manuals, guidelines and compliance policy documents.
Enforce the adherence to the Political Parties Code of Conduct by political parties - Ensure political parties maintain statutory records of their registered members, contributions, property and mode of acquisition, and statements of accounts, at their head and branch offices.
- Conduct research and facilitate consultations with stakeholders on legal reform related to
- Political Parties Act, Undertake compliance audits by political parties against compliance guidelines.
- Maintain an accurate database for political party’s compliance status.
- Receive and verify declarations of assets, liabilities and expenditures from political parties before elections. xxi.

Qualifications for the Compliance/Liaison Officer Job
- Bachelor’s Law Degree (LLB) from a recognized University;
- Diploma in Legal Education from the Kenya School of Law;
- Be admitted as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya ; and
- Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution.
